| Description: |
Position Summary:
o Processes payroll to ensure employees are paid timely and accurately. Maintains accuracy of payroll system. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local government regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Processes bi-weekly/weekly payroll for exempt (salary) and non-exempt (hourly) employees.
2 Maintains employee master file information.
3 Administers and adheres to all company policies and procedures related to payroll and Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for payroll.
4 Coordinates the distribution of payroll checks.
5 Reviews payroll registers and prepares journal entries including uploads.
6 Performs payroll account reconciliations.
7 Verifies 401k amounts, process and transmit information to 401k administrator.
8 Maintains documentation for payroll processing, compliance and reporting.
9 Setups and maintains states as needed for all company codes.
10 Provides information and reports which require payroll information.
11 Reviews federal, state and local tax reports. Maintains state unemployment insurance (SUI) rates in Ceridian..
12 Verifies accuracy of year-end reporting and W-2’s.
13 Sets up wage withholdings (garnishments, levies, support orders, etc.) and completes all correspondence according to state/federal regulations.
14 Implements all changes to payroll software and/or additional processes related to payroll.
15 Maintains time and attendance system.
16 Processes all required paperwork according to established procedures.
17 Answers telephone calls and emails in a professional and timely manner.
18 Strong level of software proficiency in using PC software to support activities, especially Microsoft Office and Ceridian Payroll.
19 Proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with all employee levels.
20 Requires sensitivity to employee’s needs and data.
21 Handles internal customer complaints and address customer service issues in a productive manner
22 Performs responsibilities as directed achieving desired results within expected time frames and with a high degree of quality and professionalism.
23 Establishes and maintains positive and productive work relationships with all staff.
24 Demonstrates the behavioral and technical competencies necessary to effectively complete job responsibilities. Takes personal initiative for technical and professional development.
25 Follows the company human resource policies, Code of Conduct and all department policies and procedures including protecting confidential company; employee and customer information attending work punctually and regularly, and following good safety practices in all activities.
26 Incorporates changes to processes into everyday work and contributes to an environment of continuous improvement.
27 Performs other duties and projects as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
o Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the principles, procedures and best practices of Payroll.
o Good comprehension of Federal, State and Local Tax Regulations and Garnishment Laws
o Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
o Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work independently
o Excellent Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees and promote teamwork
o Ability to be flexible to incorporate changes to processes into everyday work and contribute to an environment of continuous improvement.
o Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
o Proficient in using PC software to support activities, especially Microsoft Office and Ceridian payroll.
o Good Organizational skills and must be detailed orientated.
o Proficient analytical skills.
Education:
o Associate degree in accounting or equivalent payroll work experience and knowledge.
Experience:
o Minimum three years progressive payroll experience.
o Minimum three years experience with an automated payroll system.
o Advanced experience with Excel spreadsheets (revising and creating).
Other (Required licenses, certifications, schedule flexibility/OT, travel etc.):
o Must have scheduling flexibility and be able to work overtime.
